SatoHum® - our philosophy, mission and values
In step with the demands of the times, on the way to the origins

Food safety becomes a priority

All countries worldwide include food safety in their daily policy, but in recent years it has become one of the main priorities since the health of an entire society depends on healthy food. And healthy citizens bring well-being and power to their country.

Each country exploits its own self-sufficiency capacities, in order to not depend on basic products from suppliers from third countries.

Therefore, all countries seek to optimize their food production, improve agricultural lands, invest in techniques and machinery, make the most of their own climatic and natural potential, and bet on more productive crops, both, table or for further processing and fodder for livestock.

Greenhouses and hydroponics are alternatives in less productive land.

Extensive and intensive industrial agriculture is the key to building a reliable and long-lasting supply for the food industry. The strategies and programs implemented in each country seek stable production with minimal depletion.

This is where SatoHum® comes in with a solid combination of:

  • unique raw materials (peat-sapropel mixture),
  • scientific basis,
  • agricultural experience,
  • and proven results in each product.
What are we doing

JSC Organic farming Bel, which works under SatoHum® trademark, is a Belarus company engaged in research, development and production of its own organo-mineral and organic fertilizers, growth regulators and dressings based on sapropel and humic and fulvic acids obtained from peat-sapropel mixtures.

There’s no secret that the European peatlands are a unique biome on our planet, and the centuries-old silty deposits of peat swamps – sapropel itself – are a real storehouse of micronutrients for both plant growth and animal feed.

Sapropel and peat are the main sources of humic and fulvic acids, which have proven to be effective accumulators of fertility.

SatoHum® is a series of effective products based on peat-sapropel mixtures with a high content of humic and fulvic acids. We took advantage of the successful experience of previous generations of peat-sapropel ameliorants and fertilizers and, with the help of laboratory and field tests, we led our products to a new level. The experience of previous years and the current knowledge have allowed us to create a whole pleiad of specialized formulations to solve specific problems.

Our mission is to share the wealth of our land
Our philosophy

Recent trends in both industrial crop production and private horticulture and gardening indicate a reorientation towards a healthy lifestyle that originates in healthy food. Healthy food is more and more demanding on the conditions of its origin.

Healthy animals and birds, as well as healthy cereals, vegetables, fruits and berries, must be nourished by the energy of wildlife, the juices of a healthy and fertile land.

Our philosophy and operating principles are based on a combination of breakthrough knowledge, lessons from experience, maintaining soil fertility and strict observance to fertilizer regulations.

Vision

For our SatoHum® brand, there is no problem of land depletion and lack of fertility, because we know how to solve it. We dream that everyone has access to abundant and fruitful crops, the earth nourishes its inhabitants and that everyone enjoys the benefits of their lands.

Values

All our activities are located at the intersection of the restoration of traditional intensive and organic agriculture. We abandon the predatory use of agricultural land and choose to care for the land. We are close to the principles of organic and ecological crop production.

Our technologically advanced, highly effective methods of caring for plantations, professional lawns, green urban environments, and depleted or disturbed lands are based on systematic deep research, long-term field trials and excellent knowledge of crop production, from industrial to individual.

Advantages over classic mineral fertilizers

In intensive crop production, the priority of high yields dominates, which even in the short term causes damage to the fertile layer of the earth, because industrial mineralization leads to lower levels of organic matter in soils.

Our fertilizers combine the principles of sustainable development with the latest advances in high-tech production methods and spot application.

The organic microbiota of sapropel and lowland peat improves porosity, water retention, permeability and stimulates the own microbial flora of the soil, resulting in the conversion of soil compounds into nutrients available to crops. SatoHum® products expand the efficiency of applying mineral fertilizers and reduce the quantitative need for mineral fertilizers.

Advantages over organic fertilizers

Unlike classic organic fertilizers – compost, vermiculite, bokashi, manure – in a peat-sapropel mixture, the degree of decomposition of natural organisms is deeper, therefore, such mixtures and derivative fertilizers cannot be a source of pathogens, but, on the contrary, are characterized by bactericidal properties. Peat and sapropel are stored for more than 2 seasons without special conditions and without changing their structure.

Compost, manure, vermiculite require a special collection and storage technology to bring their best qualities to the soil. Our peat-sapropel mixtures have functional advantages in improving the microbiota of the fertile soil layer, show stable reproducible results, which is difficult to achieve with organic fertilizers, and prevent soil decompaction and acidification.

In combination with compost, manure, chicken droppings and other industrial waste, our mixtures have a neutralizing effect on the high bioactivity of organic fertilizers and prevent the entering of weed and grass seeds contained in organic fertilizers.

Advantages over other organo-mineral fertilizers

Needless to say, organo-mineral fertilizers based on peat-sapropel mixture are rich in humic and fulvic acids, which contribute to the restoration of polluted, eroded and depleted soils. Humic substances combined with complex thermodynamic and bioactive complexes of certain enzymes can be formed only in sapropel and have no analogues in wildlife.

By no means all organo-mineral fertilizers contain humic and organic substances in sufficient quantities. To obtain effective humic extracts and fulvic acids, it’s important to use specific raw materials that guarantee their agronomic activity and the minimum effective content in preparations. Such raw materials should give the so-called inherited humin, which is firmly held in soil aggregates and is difficult to biodegrade, which is valuable for restoring and maintaining the fertile layer.

SatoHum® has developed lines of specific products for restoration, enrichment and maintenance of the fertile layer of land for private, ecological and intensive farming, professional lawns, landscape plantings, flower beds, garden and horticultural crops.

The average efficiency of applying our fertilizers in the experimental fields of intensive crop production showed a result of 18 to 22% after the first year of application. When farming according to the No-Till system, a single application of our fertilizers under crop residues with mulch and/or during sowing diminishes the pathogenicity of the upper layer (neutralizes fungi, viruses and bacteria) and restrains the accumulation of lye in the process of green manure nitrification.
